HUNTER BURRIS

Hunter Burris is a passionate and accomplished dancer, choreographer and educator with over 25 years of experience. She began her classical ballet training with Joseph Carow at East Carolina University and continued her studies at the Raleigh School of Ballet under Mary LeGere as a member of Carolina Ballet Theatre. She received intensive summer training on honors scholarships at Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet, Richmond Ballet and DanceAspen. Balancing her love for dance and academics, Hunter earned a B.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill while performing with the Duke University Ballet Ensemble and serving as an Event Specialist for the Duke Institute of the Arts and the Duke Dance Program. Hunter began her teaching career on staff at The Ballet School of Chapel Hill and continues to further her training, most recently studying with Finis Jhung in New York. Hunter is currently the Assistant Director at Starz Elite Dance Center in High Point, North Carolina. Using her classical ballet training as a foundation for her lyrical and contemporary work, Hunter’s choreography continues to earn national recognition, including KAR’s Choreographer of the Year in 2024 and 2025 as well as a prestigious Industry Dance Awards nomination. With a genuine love for dance and teaching, Hunter is dedicated to empowering dancers of all ages to reach their full potential!
